Analysis of Digipak Chase and Status

Front Cover - is very random but very distinctive. The background is a picture of a British Bulldog which has no relevance to the artist or the music at all but symbolises Britain.  The cover is in black and white, but there is a bright yellow, long, bold writing over the top which is really in your face. The colour of the writing delivers some kind of warning signs, so the listener will automatically know the album will be intense.

Back Cover - once again yellow can be associated with caution. Chase and status target audience are party people of the younger generation. So it could be some warning that this is hardcore loud and vibrant music. As chase and status are a dubstep group most of the songs are extremely bassy.

Our music video will be targeted towards a younger audience so therefore analysing chase and status' digipak allowed us to see how they used there text and to get a few ideas that we may use for example the colour scheming black background and yellow writing helps it stand out and creates a sophisticated image.

No More Idols is a whirlwind of an album, one that smashes together a hundred genres, from trance to grime, hip hop to indie rock, dubstep always keeping the listener on their toes. Songs shift between moods in a heartbeat, pulling the carpet out from under you. And the list of collaborations is both smart and prescient: they’ve teamed up with old pal Plan BTinie TempahDizzee RascalWhite LiesClare Maguireand Cee-Lo Green – artists that can pull in a vast audience in their own right.
But the real key to No More Idols is its sustained quality. The production, as you would expect, is massive, and the album is packed with memorable melodies, beats and raps. The album cover is extremely unique the use of colours and the way the dark background is enhanced by bright yellow coloured writing allows the CD digi pak cover to be more pleasing and interesting to the eye and reaching out to the bands target audience which is 16 - 25 year olds.
