After completing target audience we have all become aware of the age range that our music video should be meeting. We have thought very hard about props, locations, and the overall themes and story line in our music video to try and reach out and attract the ages of 15 - 25 years old. Adding a relationship with the element of a chase scene in our music video will keep the audiences attention. The props of a pregnancy test will reach out to young girls of our ages as it is a problem when growing up from a girl to a woman certain situations happen in your life and teenage pregnancy is one of them. Also the use of cigarettes to release tension and stress in our music video a large amount of people smoke or have tried smoking as a teenager so they can relate. The mugger is in tracksuit bottoms and is wearing a black hoodie. His hoodie is up to show and portray the image to the audience so they are immediately aware that something is going to happen. In conclusion the main points within our music video that would appeal to our target audience would be the following.

  • The stereotypical main character as a young teenage boy who acts in a way that people stereotype teenagers, walking off smoking, getting involved in violence etc.
  • The use of props, pregnancy test and cigarettes to show what a teenage boy would usually get up to.
  • The narrative is one that will reach out to our target audience as they will be able to relate to the story.
  • Cinematography we will be using many interesting shots, from different angles and shot durations. The editing will start off slow paced and then when the song drops the pace will increase and will sometimes be cut to beat.

We came to the conclusion that our target audience for our music video would be Teens and Adults from the ages of 12-18. We also concluded that when looking into demographics that dealt with specifically male and females, we worked out that we would have a 70% Male audience and a 30% Female audience. We chose these demographics because the people that listen to this particular type of music and genre, fall well within the commercial dubstep genre.

To back this up we researched into the demographics. Our findings were that the Male interest out weighs female interest 3 - 1. What this means is that our music video would apply to a wider male audience. With all this in mind we must consider and allow content which will address and connect with both genders. In order to achieve this we could involve female actress as well as male actors within the video itself. Also by involving people of different races. Target audience research is essential in the making of a successful music video. It was so important that we found out exactly what our target audience was and the ways we could reach out to them. The pictures below are the typical types of clothes trainers, and bits of technology used for our target audience age range 12 - 18 year olds.  We came to the conclusion that our target audience for our music video would be children to teens from the ages of 12- 18. We also concluded that when looking into demographics that dealt with specifically male and females, we worked out that we would have a 65% Male audience and a 35% Female audience. We chose these demographics because the people that listen to this particular type of music and genre, fall well within the commercial dubstep genre.
